HD video, b&w, 31’22”, quasi mute, 2014
The relation between social norms and the negotiated nature of personal freedom is depicted in the quasi mute b&w video, that juxtaposes a series of long shot recorded in Thailand. Individual lives and their body language take part, accidentally, in a poetic collective ritual repeated every day, twice a day. In the contemporary world, encounters between different languages are more and more common. How do we relate to daily conventions when they belong to other cultures? What do we consider constraints?
